2006 WINTER GATHERINGEach December, the Whipping Willow Association is honored to present this event and preserve the deep-rooted heritage of the martial arts. At the 2006 event, some historical moments took place. All in attendance had the rare opportunity to see the unique Hawaiian cultural art of Lua demonstrated by a group from the island of Maui. The event concluded with a ceremony recognizing the lifelong accomplishments of Steve Muhammad (aka Steve Sanders), bestowing him with the title of Sijo, founder of his own style of martial arts “Fist Law of the Warrior Spirit." |

2007 WINTER GATHERINGThis DVD is a collection of highlights from the 2007 Winter Gathering presented by the Whipping Willow Association. Each year in December the Whipping Willow Association is honored to present this event to promote and preserve the deep-rooted heritage of the martial arts. At the 2007 event, the list of great instructors sounds like the who’s who of martial artists: Sifu Scott Gordon, Master Bob Liles, Sijo Steve Muhammad, Master Bill Owens, Guru Cliff Stewart, Guru Zach Whitson, Grandmaster Douglas Wong, and Master Carrie Wong. GRANDMASTER MING LUM: CHAPTER 1The setting for the Chapter 1 DVD is casual, filmed while he was attending the San Diego Grand International Martial Arts Tournament. You will hear GGM Ming Lum share some of the stories about the early days in Martial Arts development in Hawaii and San Francisco. Contained in GGM Ming Lum’s historical accounts are events that include notable martial artists like Grand-master Henry Okazaki, Kenny Kawatachi, Adriano Emperado, Bruce Lee, Jimmy Lee, Lau Bun and Ed. Parker Sr. to name a few. A must have for anyone that is interested in the preservation of the rich history of martial arts. |

ACTUALIZE 1: TORQUING POWERIn this DVD we introduce the principal of “Torquing Power.” This term is used by Sijo Steve Muhammad to describe his method of generating devastating power and speed. During the filming of the classic film “Enter the Dragon,” the Late Master Bruce Lee was quoted as saying that Sijo “has some of the fastest hands I have ever seen.” Master James Ibrao (Senior Grandmaster Ed Parker’s first Black Belt) said, “If you want to see how Kenpo works, watch Steve.” |
